Day 6 of decluttering. Tonight I tackled old escrow files boxes ( 6+ years old) which were piled up in my garage. I went through 3 boxes of old files. In each case I was surprised how long ago the escrow had closed. Since with most I could still distinctly remember where I was when the buyer or seller called to list or buy with me. With most of the buyers I am still in touch but staying in contact with sellers have been trickier since many have moved out of the area. I hope all are well and happy !There were 7 properties with double files since I brought the buyers to the homes and later listed and sold for them.I had to stop after 3 boxes since I filled the blue recycle container which was my goal! Just 4 more boxes to go!

Day 5 decluttering-minimal success lots of excuses.

There have been 2 set back to my decluttering project. First my neighbors whose house I sold moved temporarily in with us for the last 5 days. It has been lovely having this time to spend with these dear friends but it has caused me to take a hiatus from my projects. They have been spending these last days trying to sift through and to determine what to take, what to store ,what to throw away from the last of their 26 years of accumulation ( this in itself should be a real incentive for me to get back to my piles). The next set back may be more serious my housekeeper took an emergency leave for Mexico and may be back in 2 or 3 weeks. So my evenings are filling with laundry, dishes and vacuuming. It is hard to find time for anything else. Hopefully I will find some temporary help otherwise there will be no postings! I will give my self some declutter credits -I got recently printed family pictures into an album early this morning.

Great tips for small apartment furnishings
By agreenfield | Filed in enter blog category | No comments yet.By this afternoon I had 3 boxes of clothing and household items ready to donate to the VETS. I was very excited since this was freeing up some floor space in my garage.By 8:30 PM this "Free " space was reoccupied with my neighbor's sons stuff. My neighbor is selling their home ( with me) and their out of area son has some items which he plans to pick up in LA in the summer-long after his parents will have sold their home. How could I not help by temporarily storing. Since its not my clutter I feel as I am making some progress-eventhough there is no visible change.

Day 2 of decluttering did not go well. I put off doing my project of the day till 8PM. Way too late to start especially since its taken me over 6 years to attempt to go through and organize the piles of papers received from my parents home once they passed. It has been stowed away behind a large chair in my office accumalting dust. I started with the red canvas bag ( seen in the picture) which I thought I could knock off in an hour but took 2.5 hours just to divide up and then put back in the bag since I don't know what to do with it all. It happened to contain some amazing items which I will now have to share with my siblings and children. These included pictures I have never seen before of my Father taken in Algeria and Morocco and Paris during WWII, my parents when they were dating in 1939 , my babybook from 1956 and three of my Father's old wallets. There was NO money but a card that permitted him a free breakfast for being staff psychologist at a hospital in Salem, Oregon. There were many pictures of unidentified people which I should just throw out-yet I can't. I am proud to report I did throw away my Mother's 3 address books- I figured most of those people have passed as well. So now I have another project that will interfere with my cleaning -to organize my Father's pictures, scan them and send to my brothers.
