Decluttering Day 3
By this afternoon I had 3 boxes of clothing and household items ready to donate to the VETS. I was very excited since this was freeing up some floor space in my garage.By 8:30 PM this "Free " space was reoccupied with my neighbor's sons stuff. My neighbor is selling their home ( with me) and their out of area son has some items which he plans to pick up in LA in the summer-long after his parents will have sold their home. How could I not help by temporarily storing. Since its not my clutter I feel as I am making some progress-eventhough there is no visible change.
Day 2 of decluttering
Day 2 of decluttering did not go well. I put off doing my project of the day till 8PM. Way too late to start especially since its taken me over 6 years to attempt to go through and organize the piles of papers received from my parents home once they passed. It has been stowed away behind a large chair in my office accumalting dust. I started with the red canvas bag ( seen in the picture) which I thought I could knock off in an hour but took 2.5 hours just to divide up and then put back in the bag since I don't know what to do with it all. It happened to contain some amazing items which I will now have to share with my siblings and children. These included pictures I have never seen before of my Father taken in Algeria and Morocco and Paris during WWII, my parents when they were dating in 1939 , my babybook from 1956 and three of my Father's old wallets. There was NO money but a card that permitted him a free breakfast for being staff psychologist at a hospital in Salem, Oregon. There were many pictures of unidentified people which I should just throw out-yet I can't. I am proud to report I did throw away my Mother's 3 address books- I figured most of those people have passed as well. So now I have another project that will interfere with my cleaning -to organize my Father's pictures, scan them and send to my brothers.
